What a Shellebration!
It was a fabulous day on the delta at the 5th annual Turtle Derby benefiting Covenant Hospice. The Turtle Derby on the Delta is a rubber turtle race and family fun day and was held on Saturday, September 22 at the beautiful Five Rivers Delta Resource Center in Spanish Fort, AL.
Participants
“adopted” a rubber turtle for a suggested donation of $5 each. Approximately 1,000 turtles raced to the finish line for a
chance to win their adopter a fabulous prize.There were also
exciting activities for the whole
family to enjoy while exploring their local delta, including face-painting, kids' crafts, inflatables and the Gulf Coast
Tumblebus.
This year was also the debut addition of a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run prior to the Turtle Derby activities! For a complete list of all the winners and their times, click here. (link opens in new window)
Congratulations also go out to Amy Senna of Dauphin Island, Alabama, who won two tandem skydives with the Emerald Coast Skydiving Center located at Horak Airport in Elberta, Alabama!
